Four creatures, representing the Zodiac, hold the corners steady while everything else spins. Anubis as an eagle is set across from a snake, a god that aims to feed on lower creatures but is prevented by the wheel. Waite wrote that the Wheel of Fortune has nothing to do with luck or chance. What looks random is equality measured in balance.
