The High Priestess, card two: She sits between the pillars of the opposing forces of both ight and dark, and known and unknown; the High Priestess does not choose between them. The scroll in her lap holds what can be written down; what she actually knows cannot be. Waite called her the Secret Church, the keeper of the tradition that lives beneath all official tradition, and the wisdom that doesn't explain itself because explanation would diminish it.
