Corvids have been picking over the dead for as long as there have been battlefields, which is exactly why they show up in so much folklore as messengers between the living and whatever comes after. This one has claimed the eye, rendered in graphite detail down to every feather and every tooth. Look to the right of the skull and you'll find a branch putting out new leaves. The bird takes what it came for, the bone stays where it fell, and something green starts over on the same log. Last Look is not about the eye. It's about everything still happening around it.
